Paradise in the mountains

Lake Cuyamaca Lodge is paradise in the mountains. We needed to unwind and get away from the city; I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay then here. We stayed in the blue jay room which had a beautiful view of the lake and horses. The rooms are modern and super clean; it even had a sky light window were the moon shined through in the early morning. The location is prime, you can hike and mountain bike right off the property. It’s also walking distance to the lake were you can rent a boat and then enjoy a beer at Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant. JoAnn and Ray were great hosts and made our stay pleasant. On my next visit to Julian I will not stay anywhere except at Lake Cuyamaca Lodge.

Easter getaway

I stayed at the Lake Cuyamaca Lodge for an Easter weekend getaway. Upon arriving I was greeted by the owner Joann and given a tour of the lodge. Joann has done an amazing job creating a warm and beautifully decorated rooms with luxurious bedding. There are several rooms that have a direct view of the lake but all guests have access to the patio to enjoy the views. Having coffee each morning watching the sunrise over the lake was an added bonus. There is great hiking from the lodge and it is the perfect place to stay for your next outdoor adventure. I will be staying again and have recommended to all my friends. The lodge is currently for sale and would make a great investmnent. Please contact Joann to book a stay or tour if your interested in purchasing.

quiet and comfort in the mountains

We were fortunate to find out about this gem a couple of days before an ultrarunning event at the Lake. We literally rolled out of bed in the morning and jumped across the 79 to the start line. This is definitely our new favorite place to stay in Julian;a very comfortable, quiet and warm refuge after a day of enjoying the trails. There are only about 8 rooms that make the entire lodge-wing; 4 with lovely views of the Lake but all are beautiful and spacious with private baths and large closets. Think of a BnB, but without meals. while the owners are very accessible, they respect their guest's privacy. Truly, they are simply some of the nicest people I've ever had the good fortune to meet. It's just very easy to feel at home here. You have access to the necessities like a microwave, coffeemaker/kettle, fridge and a very comfortable Common Room where we ate Board and Brew sandwiches we brought up. (Personally, I much prefer the Common Room idea over eating in my room, as I don't like my bedroom smelling like food nor do I like a messy room.) Because I am a neatfreak, I appreciated how immaculate the rooms were. Everything looks so new and is pristine. And the sunrise/sunset over the Lake is pretty stunning. If you're a photographer, bring your kit. I just can't recommend this Lodge enough. It's so quiet and private, but surprisingly close to the sights in Julian. It would be perfect for a couple's getaway, a quiet girl's weekend, a homebase for runners/hikers, or a small wedding venue (they have a large event room that over looks over the lake! those could be amazing wedding photos!). Joann makes sure you have everything you need and is quietly attentive--just a text away.

Don't believe Google navigation! --turn off on Engineer's Road, The driveway is well marked and is right next to the Fire Station . The views are spectacular, the room was spotless, and Joan is a gem. Bring plastic forks/spoons if you are brining food. You cannot eat or drink anything in your room--but there is a common room for that. Bring shampoo. Cellphone reception was very spotty. That might be a good thing. The restaurant next to the lake is good. Make sure bring binoculars. Enjoy !

Quiet and serene

What a great experience. We were in the Blue Jay room which had a great view of the lake and the mountains in the background. Through the sliding glass door was the deck where we sat drinking our cocktails watching the 2 horses and the humming birds. We couldn't ask for a better host. Joanne. the owner is so very nice and accommodating. We felt like family when we left.

We loved having you. Please come back and visit the lodge anytime. We are glad you feel like family. I really try to make all our guests feel like this is their home for their stay.

Mr & Mrs

I can't say enough good things about this lovely place. We celebrated my husband's birthday, along with my brother and sister-in-law, and we all can't wait to return. the rooms are lovely, and very comfortable; the view of the lake and mountains is beautiful; and, it was so much fun to sit on the very comfortable veranda overlooking the lake and the 2 horses on the property, and watch all the hummingbirds feed a few feet away. Having the common room and kitchen is a big plus, too! Words can hardly describe JoAnn. I guess the best thing to say is we all felt like family by the end of our stay. She is amazing.

We had an amazing time here over the weekend. This was our first trip out to Julian and we picked the perfect spot to stay. The view is stunning, the lodge is beautiful, the owners are so welcoming and sweet, and the night sky is breathtaking. I am so happy we decided to stay at here because there is absolutely no place in town that can compare. We loved it so much we are planning to return in the fall. One last thing I have to mention is the amount of hummingbirds that call this property home! It was truly a sight to see. Don't miss out!

What wonderful words! You couldn't have described the lodge better. Thank you again for your kind words.
